The Smooth Brothers work with the understanding that live music is not just about playing and singing. It is about entertainment, getting the audience involved, making sure the venue’s customers enjoy themselves. Along with fine playing and vocals, The Smooth Brothers combine humorous banter, conversation with the audience members, and staff involvement. All these elements of entertainment are delicately balanced and they are included in good taste depending on the atmosphere of the venue.
The musical styles that The Smooth Brothers perform are varied. On any night you can find them playing jazz standards, modern jazz, blues, rock n’ roll, classic rock, funk, country, and even bluegrass. Their repertoire includes numbers from the early 1900’s to the present decade. A large percentage of their selections come from the 30’s to the 90’s. This varied repertoire allows The Smooth Brothers to be available for many venues. They are equipped for lounge music sets, dinner music, coffee house sets, dance music, and corporate events.
Jimmy and Joey are both multi-instrumentalists and vocalists. As talented guitarists their musical arrangements shine, but their shows are stepped up with the inclusion of Joey on saxophone and Jimmy on trumpet and mandolin.
It’s stated without a doubt that The Smooth Brothers are a defining staple for not only live music but also fun entertainment. Their shows are suitable for all ages, young and not so young alike. The 2010 season was a highlight for The Smooth Brothers. As usual, they had the opportunity to entertain locals and tourists alike up and down the grand strand. The 2010 year marked an invitation for them to play as members of The Grand Strand Blues All-Stars with Spider. The Smooth Brothers were also a nominated group for The Grand Strand Jam 2010 Blues Award. The brother’s web presence was also improved with the expanding website, fan pages, and email list. This year also marked the brother’s sponsorship from Baseline Technical Solutions.
